What are the 3 spaces on the bottom edge?

I guess I was disappointed that the breakaway charger cable like on the Macbook was not incorporated into the iPad but are these the charging contacts to the right of the usb connection port??

The 2 spaces (on each corner ) is the hole for the speaker and the central one is the Apple 21 pin ... i think i have read the charger is include in the box , the one they propose is a second charger for office use for example
