VLC to iTunes

Hey there, been lurking these boards for a while, finally decided to make an account so I could ask this.

I have movies in VLC format that I would like to put into iTunes so I can get them put into my iPad, but dragging and dropping does not work for it. All my songs in VLC worked with the drag and drop method, so I have no idea what to do. How can I take a VLC movie from my desktop, and get it into iTunes?

Would that work to get them onto iTunes? or just straight to the iPad?

iTunes won't accept .avi movie formats and some others.

So if you have VLC installed go to your iPad, then Apps. Scroll down and you should see Documents (or something...) then click on the VLC app. That's the way you add files to VLC.
