Hi there, nice to see you again. I hope you're enjoying your iPad. Try these steps and it should rectify your problem.

Do the four finger swipe up or double press the home button to reveal your multi task bar along the bottom. It will show all the apps that you have opened at one time or another. Long press one of these apps until they start to jiggle and red minus signs will appear above them all. Press all the minus signs, this will close them, not delete them. It's a good idea to do this regularly just to keep them all running smoothly, I do mine every night. Check and see if it is operating now. if not a restart is in order.

Restart: Press and hold the power off button, the one at the top right. You will see a slide appear to power off, slide this and the screen will go dark and a Whirly will appear. When the Whirly disappears your iPad is now off. Press the power button again until the Apple logo appears, this will take a few seconds and your iPad will start again. You should restart your iPad occasionally also as it will keep it running smoothly. Now see if it is operating. If not a reset is the next step.

Reset: Hold the power off button and the home button simultaneously, keep holding them in and you will see the power off slide appear and disappear, wait until you see the Apple logo appear before releasing the buttons. It will take a little longer for your iPad to start. This is a reset.

When your iPad begins to behave strangely these are the first steps you should do to rectify it. Let us know how you go, good luck!!

Same problem. I restarted still black screen. Went into the iPod opened a video podcast, which backdoored me into the video program around the bad video.

My question is I have the video that freezes at a certain point. The counter on the top keeps going, as if it is playing, but it is frozen. I can rewind it just fine but can't play it past that previously mentioned point. It's a video I downloaded from the store but it won't play past that point. Do I need to re download the video? Delete it?

Thanks for the help.

You say you restarted your iPad, did you bring up your multi task bar first and clear them first. If you just restarted your ipad your apps would have still been opened in your bar. Did you also try a reset? Let us know.

hello my friend :) i was watching a movies and i press the home button and when i try to return to the movie i was watching i select videos again the screen is all black, and theres no what so ever control to resume the movie that i was watching its was just all black, and i cannot watch any movies any more, i try closing the video app by pressing home button twice and try to select again video the screen is still all black, i was able to fix this problem by sync my ipad again to my laptop and deleting my movies and sync again, my question is when watching a movies is it not advisable to press home button?

It would be much better if you paused the movie at least instead of pressing the home button. I would say that just pressing the home button is what is causing the issue to happen. Did you follow all the steps I gave you?

Thanks for getting back to me. Yeah before restarting I opened the task bar and restarted it. Regardless I am able to get back in through the iPod podcasts. The video that freezes on me, do I have to delete the video and re download it or is there a trick around that?

Sounds like the video is corrupted somehow, I don't know a workaround. Maybe someone else will chime in.
I'm out of ideas.
