So it turns out that last week, Apple CEO Tim Cook, made a little road trip to the Valve company – the producer for the massively popular games such as Half Life, Counter Strike, Team Fortress and Portal to name a few. There’s no real indication of what the discussions have been behind closed doors, but Cult of Mac claims they have reliable sources stating the companies are planning to release a similar Xbox 360 console featuring a Kinect-like sensor.

Furthermore, Apple has been working on a new TV concept which is supposed to be designed with an iTunes based interface in mind. The device will also be controlled with a multi-touch and Siri like engineered remote. Basically users would be able to magically control their TV via touch gestures and vocal commands and this would all become possible thanks to the sensor we mentioned above.

“The TV set will be coming before the end of 2012. Rumors and patents have said as much for the past year, so that’s nothing new. But that’s not all we’ve heard. Our sources also say that Apple’s television set will come with an Apple-branded, Kinect-like video game console. The interface will rely heavily on motion and touch controls.â€

Apparently the Valve developers have been considering a project which they have named StreamBox – a next generation console which is supposed to be above anything available on the market today. And they don’t want to partner up with just everybody – like Microsoft or Sony – no; they want to go big, so that’s where Apple comes into place if Valve persuades it to buy the project. Only time will tell.
