Hello all,
I am about to go to Turkey for a month and would like to take my iPad with me. It is not 3G, currently I use it with my Verizon MiFi or public WiFi connections. In Turkey I will be staying with a host family who do not have WiFi in their home.
Does anyone know
(1) how I can connect to the Internet in Turkey with my iPad (the availability of public WiFi points, whether I can get a MiFi like service there or get my MiFi to work with a local sim card, or any other options I don't know)
(2) how to charge my iPad in Turkey, since I believe their electrical infrastructure is different
Many thanks!

Hi leelai, and thanks for the welcome.
I had actually read the thread you pointed out - it's how I came to discover iPadforums.
That, and a dozen other discussions I've discovered online, assume two things. First, that I will stay at a hotel and have wifi there (not true) and more importantly that I have 3G iPad (also not true, and the crux of my problem.)
Would appreciate any info available, and will post an update here myself after my trip, if no one else can help.

I have found out some information for you. You should be able to buy a sim card for your mifi at the Airport, they have 3 stores Turkcell, Vodafone and Avea and you will need your passport to do so. Wifi is freely available in stores and cafes and most hotels, although you may have to ask for a password to use it. Apparently places that do have it advertise the fact to get patrons into their establishments. The airport does have it but you will have to pay here. Their electricity is 220 volt 50 hz and their plugs are the 2 prong European style. If you plan on using a mobile phone you may run into some trouble as all phones are supposed to be registered with the Government. Hope this helps you.
