Use ipad in south america ???

HI PLZ HELP ME OUT ~!

i bought an ipad wifi 3g verizon in USA !

1. how can i use it in south america ?

2. can i change from verizon to another phone company ?

South America is large and has a lot of countries, with several telecom companies. In Brazil, the answers are "you can't" and no, respectively. For AT&T iPads the answers are "just buy a SIM chip" and yes. Don't have information about the other 11 countries.
