Apple has recently seeded a new version of OS X 10.9.3 to employees and a new iTunes 11.1.6 beta version, according to the 9to5Mac publication. The upcoming iTunes is said to include an important syncing feature that has been missing since the launch of Mavericks. The release notes say that iTunes 11.1.6 “restores the ability to sync contacts and calendar information to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from your Mac running OS X 10.9.3.â€

The new pre-release of OS X 10.9.3 (build 13D19) is available to employees and doesn’t introduce any major changes since the latest beta build seeded to developers. The last beta release asked developers to focus on testing graphics and audio drivers.

iTunes 11.1.6 brings fixes for the latest 10.9.3 builds and “restores the ability to sync contacts and calendar information to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch from your Mac running OS X 10.9.3.†The ability to sync contacts and calendar data to an iOS device from a Mac was removed previously (to many complaints) but remained possible through iCloud syncing.

So, if you too have been annoyed by the fact that you couldn’t synchronize contacts and calendar data to an iOS device from a Mac, you’ll be happy to hear that Apple has listened to complaints and has fixed this. Back in September, when iOS 7 and Mavericks were released, Apple had decided to removed local syncing in favor of cloud syncing, allowing users to sync calendars, contacts, bookmarks, and notes only via iCloud. As expected, many were unhappy with the change, so, consequently, Apple has decided to bring it back.

MacRumors discovered that Apple’s Support Communities has a 212 page thread on the issue. Pre-beta versions of iTunes 11.16 and the newest version of OS X 10.9.3 are currently only available to Apple employees, but the beta version are expected to get seeded soon to developers, as well. And after that it will be released for the general audience, as well.
