It is not illegal to alter a UDID. UDID is a standard created by a consortium of *private* technology-related companies to identify a range of things, among them specific hardware devices such as iPads. Using iPads as an example, spoofing your UDID may violate Apple's End User License Agreement, entitling Apple to refuse to you with access to, among other things, the App Store and firmware updates. Spoofing your UDID for a particular app on your iPad would, if detected, entitle the app's developer to block your use of that app, at least insofar as online resources are concerned. But there is nothing inherently criminal in spoofing your UDID.

Even if it is illegal, why can't it be discussed? Discussion of something illegal is not in and of itself illegal. I for one would like to know all about this UDID faking, and what it is used for.
