Red Wasp Design has announced that its iOS turn-based strategy RPG Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is currently available for free, until 30th June. The game was inspired by the horror fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, and the classic paper RPG of the same name. And maybe the Metallica song too? Would be nice to think so! Anyway, the game takes place in The Wasted Land, where you get to use your team of investigators to uncover a deadly conspiracy underlying the Great War. As you attempt to progress through the game, barbed wire, mustard gas and machine guns will all be in your way, along with many more obstacles besides. The reason for the celebration and offering the game for free is because, according to Red Wasp, the twilight of June is an auspicious time in Lovecraftian fiction, with many important events occurring at the end of June in Lovecraft’s books and short stories.
