tried to update wifes ipad :-(

Tried to update my wifes ipad, screen came up with a usb pointing to itunes logo, connected, said it had to wiped clean of alllll data and reinstalled, so I did and after install it said load failed on itunes and the usb pointing to itunes logo still on screen :-(
