I was watching local TV and the had this story. This from the Orlando Sentinel

Mar 15,
A Central Florida couple hatched an elaborate plan to rob a Best Buy at gunpoint and steal more than $1 million in Apple products, but their scheme was foiled early Thursday by an alert off-duty deputy, the Orange County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives said 24-year-old Jasmin Roman, who works at Best Buy, was the mastermind behind the plot, which also involved her 26-year-old boyfriend, Juan Carlos Ortiz Valez, who was fired from the retailer.

The couple planned to rob the Best Buy near the Florida Mall early Thursday when employees arrived to open the store.

Detective Geoffrey Fahringer said the couple bought guns, handcuffs, black clothes and other items they thought they'd need in preparation for the heist.

Roman knew two employees would be opening the store, so the couple went to the house of one of those employees and cut their car tires so they couldn't get to work.

The plan, Fahringer said, was to take the Best Buy manager at gunpoint.

But their plot was foiled at about 4 a.m. by sheriff's Sgt. Robbie Zeller, who was patrolling the area in an unmarked vehicle.

Just before the end of her shift, Zeller spotted a U-Haul, became suspicious and called for assistance.

When deputies stopped Roman and Valez, the couple was calm and eventually confessed to their plan.

Detectives say Roman and Valez wanted to rob the Best Buy of its Apple products, including a shipment of the new iPad.

Deputies found two handguns, eight handcuffs, chains, a lock, masks, gloves, binoculars, mace and a knife in the U-Haul.

"They watched too many movies," Fahringer said.

Roman, who lives in Kissimmee, was arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and conspiracy to commit kidnapping with a gun.

Valez, who lives in Orlando, was arrested on a count of conspiracy to commit kidnapping with a gun.
