I purchased a few songs on my MacBook and transferred them to my iPad. I noticed that the entire collection kept disappearing from my iPad 2. I have rebooted several times and re-synced the library. Now I am traveling and it feels terrible not to have any music or videos from my library. When I check the iPad 2 settings, it indicates that the disk space has been used(for movies and songs) but there isn't any.
