Songs and movies disappear

I purchased a few songs on my MacBook and transferred them to my iPad. I noticed that the entire collection kept disappearing from my iPad 2. I have rebooted several times and re-synced the library. Now I am traveling and it feels terrible not to have any music or videos from my library. When I check the iPad 2 settings, it indicates that the disk space has been used(for movies and songs) but there isn't any.

Do you have the same problem? Have a look for some of the issues surrounding iTunes synchronisation. It's easy, if you're not careful, for movies and music to 'disappear' if you don't set up iTunes correctly before you perform a synchronisation.
