Well it's been a while from release date. I decided not to jailbreak. Is it worth upgrading?

What are peoples thoughts after having it for a few now..

Ditto that. Besides, most apps are going to have that update, and you might not be able to use them if you don't have the current
one.

I regret upgrading mainly due to wifi issues. Unless you have 5,000 apps I would stay away from 4.2. And even with lots of apps you will get issues with folders only allowing limited number of apps in them.

Love 4.2. No problems with wifi, or anything else. I like using folders and "multi-tasking." I would upgrade.

Hmm. Going to update tonight or tomorrow. We just bought a new windows pc with a brilliant 23" HD display.. This will give me a reason to use it now :-)

Don't worry about people saying there are problems with the Wi-Fi. I am sure they are experiencing problems, however they are in the VAST minority. So chances are, your upgrade will go smoothly and you will have zero issues.

Ipad newbie question

I would in a heartbeat!

OK, altho a newbie to Ipad I have been a computer user since DOS days.

When I try to download and install the 4.2 op system it tells me I have to move my downloaded apps to Itunes before I can do this or I will lose them.

They are in the apps section of Itunes now.........what's up here? After I install the new os won't I be able to just re-sync and have all my apps back in place????

As you can see, still gettng my feet wet here on Ipad.

just select the "transfer purchases" option then back up and you'll be OK you probably have one or two apps that were not synced/transfered yet.

Many thanks BB. Worked like a charm. Can't say I wasn't biting a few nails until it finished, but except for the wallpaper change and the gaming icon all seems to be as before.

If & when you have the time you might tell me how you get out of an app when you finish with it. Some do have "done" on them, but I have just been using the main screen button. Is there a better way than wearing out this button?

Thanks again.....

Thats pretty much it, just click home button. However, with the new OS you will have a "tray" of recently used apps. You can access them by double clicking the home button. Then you can close them with long press. Although it looks like you're going to delete them you aren't it only closes/removes from the tray. There are plenty of arguments/discussions regarding the need to do this so make your own choice/preference for whatever reasons you feel are valid. I prefer to occassionally close/remove all or most of them since I don't like the clutter, but I like leaving the most used ones in the tray so I can access them without going all the way to the main screen. I treat it more of a quick shortcut bar.

Whether the apps are actually open or closed or frozen or whatever is not a big deal to me, I prefer not to worry about it and close/remove to my own criteria which satisfies me.
