Safari crashed

Can anyone help with this prob? Safari won't let me open any of the tabs except the one I am stuck on- I had 9 open. Also the screen has dimmed, safari only, and finger swiping in Safari is not working; I can go back or forwards to pages already opened. Do I have to go in to settings and do a factory reset and lose my apps? Really would appreciate some help if poss!

Have you closed the app by double tapping the home button, then holding one of the apps in the now open row until all jiggle, and now tapping the minus button? Next step if that doesn't work is to power down by holding the sleep button until until the slider to power off appears and sliding to off.
