Read Notifications aloud without AirPods

How can I get my iPad pro to read notifications aloud without AirPods?

I have tried VoiceOver/Verbosity. This reads the entire screen, if you click on it.

Is there an option that will just read notifications aloud without click on them.

Pretty sure you can only get audio notifications when using external speakers. So, if you were to use a bluetooth speaker, that might work.
