Question about ipad apps

Since I already have an iphone with apps do any of them work well as is on the ipad? Or do i need to go out and purchase the ipad version of any iphone apps I may want?

iphone apps do work, but the resolution is smaller, unless you double the pixels

Some iPhone apps are universal. Those will resize without pixilation, and sometimes add more features and a better interface.

When you look on the iTunes store, if there is a plus mark in the price tag, then they are universal apps.
