please help with page turning pedal

Hi all.

My sister's old ipad is pairing without problem with my Donner bluetooth page-turning pedal but pages won't turn... I can't explain to myself why... The device works perfectly with two other tablets of mine... The app used is Acrobat Reader... Please help whoever can.. Thanks in advance...

...when I edit the document, e.g. trying to add some text in it, I see that the pedal works as a normal keyboard... but page turning does not work
