I've recently downloaded iOS 6 but some of the features seem to be missing.

something thing about face time and iMessage. I was of the understanding that in iOS 6 you would be able to receive iMessages on your ipad though your EMAIL ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER. but it won't let me add a phone number, so I can't get messages on my ipad unless I give them my email address.. same with face time.

please help :)

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

I've read that you can do this with FaceTime but I haven't heard of iMessages as yet. Which iPad do you have as I feel it might only be on a 4g new iPad and it depends on your Carrier also. I just found this -

FaceTime video calling requires a FaceTime-enabled device for the caller and recipient, and a Wi-Fi connection. FaceTime over a cellular network requires iPhone 4S, iPhone 5 or iPad (3rd generation) with cellular data capability. Availability over a cellular network depends on carrier policies; data charges may apply.

I've moved your thread to our Help Section where you will receive a better response and hopefully others will know more.

I believe it is supposed to be automatic, because your iPhone is registered in iMessage with the same Apple ID. I can't confirm it though. I got a message on the phone, but it did not show up anywhere else. When I checked the Message settings on the iPHone it turns out iMessages was turned off. I don't know of that happened when I updated to iOS 6 on the iPhone 4, or when I went to the iPhone 5.

So, I will have to wait until I get another message to see if it is now working (after fixing my settings). That could be a while. I don't get many messages.

The short version: It should work, but I don't know. ;)

Yesterday I received a FaceTime call over the cellular system, so I can testify that it does indeed work over 3G on a device running iOS 6.

A little after I registered my iPhone with iMessages, I got notifications on the iPhone that my iMac and my iPad Would start seeing messages sent to my iPhone's number. I still haven't received any messages to confirm whether it works or not.

Ipad2 - I just upgraded to IOS6 (mistake). I can connect to my company's wifi FR33DAY and even get to the login screen, but when entering the correct ID & p/w, nothing happens. Is there a setting that maybe IOS6 has changed. For 6 months there was no problem and the company has no internal support. Any help woul dbe gratefully received.
