So I got the padtab mounting system for Christmas. For this who have used it know, there is a mounting bracket that goes on the back of the iPad and pad tabs that go on the wall. Not wanting to add any kind of permanent attachment to my iPads I got a plastic case/backplate for my iPad 3 and mini. Mounted the bracket to the case, and attached the case to the iPad. Using a level, placed the padtabs on the wall.
It's replaced some pictures I have mounted on the wall. With the iPad photo slideshow, it's much better than just having one still photo on the wall. It now also functions as my secondary tv (using slingbox app). Sort of as a way to see when my program is done with those pesky commercials. And getting up to turn off my alarm really helps me stay up, so I don't just shut it off and fall back asleep. And when now in use, I leave the weather + app open to show the time and temperature. This makes my wall appear more beautiful.
I've got to say, I love the system, but it has some restrictions, the surfaces. After a few hours of being mounted to my plaster wall, my iPad 3 fell 4 feet to the ground. Luckily, because of the case, and hitting the charger adapter on its way down, the iPad 3 was not damaged. The padtab had detached from the wall. Fearful it would happen again, I mounted a second tab above a cushioned surface just in case it would also fall. Mounted the iPad and left it there overnight. Woke up the next morning to find the iPad on the couch, the padtab removed from the wall again. Found the reason is because there is air trapped in the padtabs because of the wall texture, and the weight of the iPad 3 is just too heavy for that surface.
On the other hand, the iPad mini works great with it, because of its lightweight, the other tabs have yet to detach from the wall.
Don't get me wrong folks, I have a few problems with it, but it is great. Just make sure the surface you're planning to use it on is completely smooth, otherwise, you may regret it
