Hello,

I have the most basic iPad3, the one without a built in gps.

Are there any "good" Apps that would enable turn by turn navigation on myiPad, similar to having a dedicated gps, assuming, I guess,
that one remains within wifi distances ? Caveats ? Thanks, Bob

I use NavFree for voice turn by turn navigation. It works offline. I have Wifi only, and therefore also have a Dual Bluetooth GPS.

Some stand alone GPS units are able to connect to the iPad via Bluetooth, taking advantage of the larger screen on the iPad.
Here are some iPF threads about this issue.

I used the dual x150 with my iPad 2. It linked over Bluetooth. It worked very well with Navigon for going all over the south east. THe iPad makes a love nav device, but you need to mount it carefully.

Thank you very much. Makes things a bit clearer but unfortunately the second link doesn't work. Having said, that the GPS issue and Bluetooth are a real help.
Cheers

I just tried the second link, it works for me. I wouldn't have included it if it didn't work.

Will do Scifan57, however I have removed the app for now. Obviously if I have anything useful to contribute in the future, I will do so.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi again,
I am certainly looking at the dual electronics GPS device. Very interesting and useful now I managed to get the link working. Don't know what the problem was there. All sorted now. If I do purchase the device I will update everyone and review it.
