Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

Hi, I'm a new member and I have some questions about ipad 2 that I'm getting my wife for christmas. 1. Is there any kind of monthly charge for using the i pad. 2. Can she download books from any book store, or is there only a mac bookstore. 3. Can she borrow public library books. 4. Will her ipad automatically find my wi-fi set up on my Asus computer (with wireless router). I'm saying this because
i don't have a Mac setup. 5. Will she be able to access any website that my Asus desktop computer accesses. For example, she loves to play on-line chess with other players.
6. Is the ipad a reader as well as a tablet. Like, does it have choice of reading fonts and sizes. All I can think of right now. Very excited for her! Freddy

I agree, this forum is great! Congrats on your new iPad and welcome around. :D

To the poster above-
1. I don't believe there are monthly charges, but with the 3G models that might be possible.
2. There is an "official" Apple bookstore, but you can also download several other apps such as Kindle and nook and buy books from them as well.
3. Yes, at most libraries.
4. It should!
5. Yes, she should be able to, but sometimes online games require flash, which the iPad doesn't support. There are apps that offer online game play though, so that should be fine.
6. Yes, absolutely. iBooks is a great app in particular because you can change the fonts and sizes as well as highlight, tap to define, etc. I LOVE using my iPad as a reader.
