National Geographic has today launched an iPad app called “Ultimate Dinopedia: The Most Complete Dinosaur Reference Everâ€, which is based on National Geographic’s award-winning children’s book of the same name. The app features vital statistics and pronunciations for more than 700 dinosaurs, plus stunning original artwork and multimedia enhancements. The book-based, standalone app is the first to be released by National Geographic Kids, and was developed in partnership with ScrollMotion.

Not only can children (or anyone who thinks dinosaurs are cool!) read fascinating facts about their favourite dinosaurs, they can also watch beautifully rendered videos showing how the giant creatures would interact in the wild. There’s also an interactive family tree feature that illustrates how some carnivores evolved into plant eaters.

"The iPad allows us to present fascinating topics like dinosaurs to young readers in a whole new way - we can engage them with sound, video, art and creative navigation," said Aaron Kohn, vice president of Corporate Strategy and Development and general manager of Mobile, National Geographic Global Media.

Saw this and down loaded for the grandkids.(2 of them coming today) Tried it out. Interesting, but the videos keep stopping and sending me out of the program. I have a 32 whatever. Is that the problem?
