My iPad is coming up as as iPhone

G'day all,
All of a sudden my iPad thinks it's an iPhone when I connect to my LapTop.

When connected to my Laptop it comes up with an "unexpected error connecting to iPhone".

Now my iPad seems to have died or something as the screen is black and the little spinning wheel just keeps on spinning as if it's searching for something and I am unable to do anything with it.

Help will be appreciated.

Time for the 'infamous' reboot.

Press and hold the Power and Home buttons for a long time - could be up to 20 seconds - until the white Apple logo appears. Trust me - it *will* appear. Then the iPad will reboot and will magically transform itself from that iPhone back to a friendly iPad. The reboot takes a while - so just enough time to make yourself another cup of coffee.

No data, apps etc will be lost - you're simply rebooting...
