I was charging my Ipad 2 and carried out software update to ios7.1.2. After the software installation and sartup while still charging, the ipad went off. Could not on and could not charge. It looks dead. I need help on what to do for it to start working again.

Hi, conrado! Welcome to iPF!
Did you try to reset your iPad? You won't lose data or settings when you perform it: press and hold Home and Power button simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Release both and let the iPad power up on it's own.
And if this doesn't help:
Use recovery mode to get it working again: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If this doesn't solve your problem, try DFU mode: http://www.ipadforums.net/threads/dfu-mode-for-dummies.27489/
