Multiple Vertical lines on right-hand side of screen approx 50 m width

I’ve got multiple vertical lines which flash on & off. Has anyone else experienced this, and is it a sign of potential failure or is there a solution?

Do the lines retain the same orientation when changing from portrait to landscape orientation? If so, you likely have a hardware problem with the screen. A free diagnostic at an apple store Genius Bar would confirm what the problem is. As this is an iPad 4 from 2012, repair would cost more than the iPad is worth.
I would backup the iPad as soon as possible in case the screen fails completely.

Check out the prices of refurbished iPads in the Apple online store. They’re sold at a discount over new and have the same warranty as a new iPad.
