Messenger phone

N my IPAD2 when you click on messenger, you would get 3 options 1 for contacts, another for messages, and the third is a dial pad to make phone calls, assuming you have bought the time. Well all of a sudden my dial pad is gone and no matter what I try I can' t seem to find it or bring it back. Now where the phone should be for the dial pad, theres a little box and it says calls, and even if you get a call it always says "no calls registered" .. Can anyone help me with this, or tell me why I no longer have a dial pad there...
