Hey all
I know this has been asked, but I'm not having any luck
I'm looking for a free ftp app that let's me upload and download files. I am a web designer and I would like to be able to upload certain files from my iPad, even when I'm not on my local wifi.
A lot of apps I'm finding are saying they are FTP apps, but its more of a wifi file transfer app between your PC and iPad. I want to upload and download files from my iPad, without sending them to my PC.
I've tried a few, but with no luck. Does anyone have any good experiences with one?

Thanks
Rooster

They are not free, but worth every penny. I use FTPOnTheGo Pro for editing my sites on the fly. I dont have Markup for iPad, but I have seen it on a friend's iPad and he loves it and wont use anything else. Both are $9.99. If it is for a business, write it off, or transfer the cost to a client.

Free - I tried a ton, but found none of them to come close to either of the two above.

Hi Rooster - now I've not used FTP since I worked in an academic position - had an FTP client on a PC & also used the Internet Explorer browser (e.g. ftp://ftp.domain.xxx or whatever the ftp address is desired; for a public site, usually 'user' & 'anonymous' gets you into the location) - but curious is Safari (or another browser) on the iPad might have the same FTP function (don't know and have not tried).

If you have GoodReader on your iPad (if not, then recommended!), there is FTP support (see attachment) - I've never given it a try but maybe others will 'chime in' to help. Also, go to the App Store (just use FTP as your search term) - there are plenty of options - check the reviews. Finally, a google search will also bring up plenty of hits, e.g. LOOK HERE - good luck and let us know what works for you - might help others. Dave :)

Goodreader should be on every iPad. It is the "swiss army knife" of iOS. 5 stars. Get this no matter what.

It will read nearly anything, but I did not like the editing of the markup files and JS/CSS code files. Just me.
