Jeff Daniels is a versatile actor, as he can take on such contrasting roles as Will McAvoy in popular TV show Newsroom or Harry Dunne in Dumb and Dumber To. Now, according to new information coming from The Wrap, it seems that Jeff Daniels will play former Apple CEO John Sculley in the upcoming Aaron Sorkin-penned Steve Jobs biopic.

Director Danny Boyle is said to have Daniels at the top of his list for the role. If this turns out to be true, then the move would see him reunite with his “Newsroom” collaborators Aaron Sorkin and Scott Rudin. Here's what The Wrap says:

Jeff Daniels, who recently won an Emmy for “The Newsroom,” is being eyed to play former Apple CEO John Sculley in Danny Boyle‘s Steve Jobs movie, multiple individuals familiar with the Universal project have told TheWrap.

Michael Fassbender has closed a deal to star as the Apple icon, while Seth Rogen is set to co-star as Jobs’ close confidante and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak. While Daniels does not have an official offer yet, one is expected to materialize soon, as he's considered Boyle's top choice for the key supporting role.

Michael Fassbender is rumored to take on the lead role and Seth Rogen could play Steve Wozniak. At first thought, we must agree that it will be curious to see what will be their performance together, since all have unique, contrasting acting styles.

Recent reports also said that starlet Natalie Portman passed on the role of Jobs's daughter Lisa. Thus, she joins several noted celebrities that ultimately passed on the film, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale as well as director David Fincher.
