Self Introduction: a citizen of the Philippines working in China since 2006... Sixth year this coming February, so I guess I like Shanghai...

Good day to you, iPaduaJoel,

That's nice that got you here.

Normally, we do have a special forum for International User:

Forum: International iPad Users
If you live abroad and are an iPad user, this is the place to go for International specific discussions.

Chinese Dedicated iPad Forum is mainly for iPad Users who wish to communicate in Chinese/Cantonese.

However, "有朋自远方來,不亦樂乎?" ^_^

And we wish to hear more life experience of using iPad in China from you, from the perspective of a Foreigner.
(Maybe then I can try to do some translate if you allow it.)

<<singing...."有朋自远方來,不亦樂乎?" >>

Thank you Bro... I prefer using English though... And I opened this thread just in case a member, just like me, gets "lost" (Literal and Figurative)... He he...

Now, I was wondering, can I buy iTunes gift cards from Shanghai's Apple Store and use them to purchase from the US based App Store? I wonder if anyone has tried and succeeded... Research Time...

One more thing, for the admin...

In order to post a link from one of the threads, I had to go to Safari, copy the link and go back to the app to paste the link. Is there a work around for this? I mean when you are using the app, can't you post links?

Thank you Madams and Messrs... I hope this will help to improve the iPad Forum app...

I 'm using the "Advanced" tag at top corner

And then just copy and paste the link either thru Web link or image link

And it will appear as follow

I found that it is easy to use.

It is nice, that mean the iTunes gift card works as Season present?

Failed! According to the Apple 'Geniuses' at both Apple Stores in Shanghai, iTunes Gift Cards are not available in China...

So, that means we will have to purchase online...

Now here comes the Catch 22... I don't want to use credit cards to buy from iTunes that is why I want to use iTunes Gift Cards. But then, in order to buy a gift card, I have to use a credit card?

Thinking Aloud:

Shanghai is a dynamic city. It changes and progresses so fast. Problem is, it so so slow in accepting foreigners who do not speak and read Chinese. What do I mean? Banks, websites, hotlines, etc. do not have English. Case in point, try calling Bank of China's 95566 hotline. Another example? The "Taobao" system...

You are lucky, could be live within a giant (China) while you are a giant(English speaker).

China, the history shown that She has a powerful mind and could always assimilate who ever get near to her.

However, I believe that you are always be respected, although they afraid and feel excited when try to talk to you.

Thank you Csllana... I just could not get the complete gist of what you wrote... Are you using an online translator?

Life Experience:

A "pure" English speaker could navigate a Chinese website thru "trial and error" method... My problem of linking an online account and a shopping account was successful thru sheer luck... Ha ha...

Sorry, just try to use symbols and metaphors to express the meaning.

As far as we know, the two most widely spoken languages are English and Chinese. And you (a represent of English Speaker) stay in a Chinese country for living. It is something really special.
