Have had two ipad's for quite a while with multiple users and no protectors. Screens are unmarked. Wonder just how necessary they really are.......

Have 4 grandkids in the 3, 4, 5 range who use my iPad all the time. They smear it up, and anything else they can think of. I wipe it off. Screen's fine with no protector.

I use an antiglare protector, not so much to "protect" the screen but to keep the external reflections off the screen, especially when outdoors under full or semi-direct sunlight.
