iPad Running Out of Storage... Can iCloud Save Me?

Hope this makes sense... I have all of my music in the cloud, and whenever I play anything from the cloud it gets downloaded to my iPad (as expected, I suppose). But now I am running out of space on the iPad and I don't have enough storage left to update to iOS6. Can I safely delete music from the iPad without also deleting it out of the cloud? IOW, if I delete a track from iPad, will it totally disappear? Or will it be removed from the iPad but still have an icon indicating that it is in the cloud, available for download?

Make sense?

P.S. BTW, this is basically the same question I posted on 12-27-2011 and no one ever answered. Can someone please point me to the info I need? Thanks!

I believe it will remain in the cloud from what I've heard over time; not positive as I don't use iTunes Match...

Can't help, either. I have never used Music Match because I have so much music on iTunes that I daren't take the chance. I could end up uploading a vast amount because a lot of my music has been collected over years and is pretty obscure.

is there anything else on your iPad you can delete? A video? Photos? but to answer your question, yes, I think you can safety backup your music on the cloud, and then upgrade to iiOS6, and then put it bacon. I did it, and it worked just fine.
