HELP!! My 1st Gen iPad is not being recognized by my pc or iTunes. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, I have purchased a new USB cable, I did a restore on the iPad, I have attempted to plug it in to 2 different pc's...nothing has worked. When I plug into the wall charger, the iPad charges and the sound from the iPad recognizing it has been plugged in alerts me it has been plugged it. The iPad is fully charged. I even paid the $29.95 to Apple to speak to a specialist who told me after a 30 second conversation that they could not help me without paying $149 and sending it to them. As of right now, I have a fully charged iPad showing the USB cable requesting it be connected to iTunes. Any help you can offer would be MUCH appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!

This happened to me too. Try connecting your iPad to another laptop and it will recognize it. I did it with my sister's laptop and it worked like a charm!

I'm going to assume you are on Windows? Sounds like your recovery mode drivers are not correctly installed. I know you said you did this, by try the following (the entire process is important).

1. Uninstall iTunes.
2. Reboot PC (Important!)
3. Connect the iPad. Windows should recognise the device but it won't be able to install the drivers (as they are part of iTunes). Then disconnect the device.
4. Install the latest version of iTunes (important, it should be the latest).
5. Connect the iPad. It should not install the correct driver and detect the device. This can take several minutes on some PC's. You MUST NOT interrupt the process of installing the driver.

See if that helps. Also, make sure you are connecting the USB cable directly to the PC and not via a hub device.

Good luck!
