iPad 2 external mic

Hello and welcome to the forum! 
Interesting questions - there is a previous short Thread HERE that may help? But not needing this option I'm still curious - I guess an 'external microphone' would have to communicate w/ the iPad via Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or the docking station - the previous thread was from earlier in the year, so perhaps w/ iOS5 and 10 months, other choices are now available? Good luck in trying to find a solution to your question(s) -

There are a couple of microphones that have an adaptor that plugs into the iPad dock connector - iRig is one that some Members recommend.
