How to upgrade 2nd generation itouch with ios4.2.1 to ios 5

I have 2nd generation itouch with ios 4.2.1 .. When i connect my itouch to system n check for updates in itunes , its just showing that ios4.2.1 is the latest version for your itouch .. I am unable to upgrade it to ios5 .. Help me in upgrading .. Tell me how to upgrade ??

Unfortunately, iOS 5 only works on the 3rd and 4th generation iPod touches. You can't upgrade (as in, your iTunes is correct, you have the most updated version you can get).

Yes, iOS 4.2.1 is the latest iOS version for the iPod touch, second generation.
