Hi

I do seminars for the over 60's in the RV lifestyle. I need to output the iPad to a projector. Videos work just fine as does Keynote. However to demonstrate other programs "live" there is zero output. This makes life extremely difficult and just fails miserably to demonstrate the ease of use that encourages oldies to take the plunge and buy an iPad!

Take care

I purchased the VGA adapter over the weekend only to make the same discovery. It only shows video output for applications that specifically support it. I don't know whether Apple considers this to be a DRM issue but "normal" expectations would be to see the entire desktop, as you would with any other device.

Perhaps you could convert your presentation to PDF and use GoodReader (which does support VGA).

If you JB your ipad and have an Apple VGA cable (official ) you can use the new app from the Cydia called "DisplayOut" it mirrors your screen on the connected monitor, TV or projector. Claims to work on iPhone4, iPad and iPod Touch, Touch with component or composite cables only. Haven't tried it myself, yet. I will when I get a cable.
