Hi there!

I lock my iPad so that my son doesn't play games for hours on it. When i am not around, he starts playing games. So I started locking it. For 2 days I knew he didn't play. But on the third day, when I was back from work I saw him using the iPad. I thought he must have guessed the passcode, so I changed the passcode again. After a week I saw him using the iPad. When I asked my son how he unlocked the iPad, he said he found the iPad unlocked. So I googled and found out that an iPad can be unlocked by connecting to iMac. Unlike me, my son is Mac savvy. I don't suspect my son but he could have have used the iMac to unlock the iPad. My question is: Is it possible to lock the iPad so that it cannot be unlocked by any method other than typing the passcode?

Thanks

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

It is very unlikely for your son to have been able to unlock the iPad with the Mac. It's not a simple task to do and requires the iPad to be restored and the passcode would have been disabled by doing this. Were you using the iPad at all before you saw him with it as there is a time delay for when the Passcode lock is initiated. Have a look in settings where you did the passcode and you will see the setting Require Passcode after, and you can set it up to be immediate or up to 4 hours before it is initiated. What timeline do you have setup here? You can also set up a longer password than just 4 digits here also.
