German IPad used in the USA

I have a friend from germany coming over that needs to use his German 3G IPad here in the US. Does anybody know wether tohere is Micro Sim of a carrier available that offers monthly or other short term dataplans for reasonable cost? I think his Standard carrier in Germany is T-Mobile but roaming would be incredibke high cost.

He can pick up an AT&T microsim for $15 at any AT&T store and then sign up for one of the two prepaid plans. $15 = 250MB $25=2GB
