Here in Canada unlocked 3G (soon 4G) iPads are sold directly by apple stores and all other retailers. It's sad really how you are forced to buy them locked to a carrier for the same price we pay. Anyway the fact that my iPad 2 64gb 3G was unlocked meant that I got $680 for it used a week ago on eBay. It sold to someone very happy in NY and best of all Canadian apple care warranties are good in the US.
Sorry for the rant everyone, it's just that I think you are not treated fairly over there.

Hi there.

Welcome to the iPadForum! This forum is loaded with invaluable information which contain topics including: General Discussion of the iPad, iPad Operating System, iPad App Store, Accessories, and Ipad for Business and Education.

The iPadForum also includes a Regional Ipad Group for international users across the world. This is a wonderful area to "find" members from your own country. See here:Regional iPad Groups

If you have not already done so, please take a moment to download the iPad Manual User Guide iOS 5. This is extremely helpful if you are new to the iPad world.

Also, iBooks has the iOS 5 user manual here, which is nice to have in your library,*iTunes - Books - iPad User Guide for iOS 5 by Apple Inc.

Thank you both for the warm welcome! I have been reading through these forums for months now and finally decided to join now that I'm waiting for my new iPad preorder.

The US iPads come unlocked. They are not carrier locked, the issue is that the different carriers use different technologies and frequencies.

I had my First Generation iPad (ATT 3G model) running with a T-Mobile simcard for a few months before T-Mobile started blocking iPads.

I Stan corrected then.
In Canada we have a choice of three main carriers to choose from who support the same hardware. Also there are several other discount carriers who also unofficially support iPads. Typically data costs are other $10 per month to share data with a smartphone or tiered plans for the iPad alone.

False assumption. Canada's a nice place despite your lack of info, lol.

You are right! Although I presumed, not assumed as I really didn't know what I was talking about.

I think presumption is based on probability vs. assumption, which is plain false thinking, but that's what dictionary apps are for, lol.
