FaceTime disconnects

Mtdreams

iPF Noob
New to IPad and new to FaceTime. Own an Ipad 2 wifi only. Set up FaceTime and all works well.
While using FaceTime my call disconnects when I receive a landline call. I am connected to the Internet via a wireless dsl router. Is there a conflict between using FaceTime at the same time trying to use the landline telephone?

Do have cable internet or adsl? i.e. is your modem plugged into cable or a phone line...

Even if adsl the phone and internet should coexist. Weird...

Try streaming a video from the internet in a safari browser and then call your landline, this will tell you if it is facetime specific or some true interruption to theninternet connection.

Thanks for the reply. I use adsl with modem connected to phone line. Just tried your suggested test and streamed content was not being interrupted by a landline incoming call. Curious. I must admit that the experience I had with Facetime was the first and only time Ive ever used it. Despite the video call session being canceled 3 times by incoming calls, I don't know if it was an anomaly or if I will continue to experience same.

I split my calls between facetime and skype. Try skyping for a while and see if skype gets interrupted. I also use adsl and never had this happen, but I dont get many landline calls. In fact I dont answer my landline any more. I only have one for outgoing fax... If I get a landline call it is "always" a telemarketer.

Yeah we continue to be committed to landline despite the legitimate questioning it's need. Will try the Skype thing. Otherwise will have to see what my experiences are moving forward. Thanks for now with your thoughts.
