Face time causing problems?

After using face time this past weekend, my iPad 2 now randomly goes to a black screen and then the icon screen, no matter what I'm doing on the iPad. This is now happening at least every couple of minutes. Any ideas? Thanks!

Have you tried a restart?
Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears.
