Dropbox links

N my iPad or iPhone, I can choose to generate and email a link to ANY file in my Dropbox. when working on my MacBook if I want to send someone a link to a file in my Dropbox, there is no option to either generate or send a link to it... Thus I end up having to email the file itself...
Am I missing something?

I see what you mean. You only get the public link option when files are in the public folder. I never noticed before.

Even the website won't let you generate a public link anywhere but the Public folder. Or maybe if you share a folder. I can't test that.

I wonder if it's a bug in the iOS apps, or an intentional feature.
