Dragon Dictation Question

My iPad is on it's way and since I'm not a very good typist, one of the first apps that I'm going to get is Dragon Dictation. I've seen a lot of reviews on YouTube and it's an extremely popular app. I know that it's free to download from iTunes but do you have to pay a monthly fee to use it? Thanks.
