DIY Stand from suit hanger

I was looking around on the internets for DIY stand ideas and I came across the "30 second DIY iPad stand" video on youtube that uses a white shirt hanger that is bent to hold the iPad.

So, thinking it would be easy, I proceeded to destroy 8 shirt hangers, and never made it quite right...so I almost gave up...but then I figured I would try once more and with a thicker hanger...a suit hanger! very similar to this one:

It's chrome plated and made of thick metal with two clips that each have rubber pads on them. I used pliers to remove the actual hook part, and then using my hands and pliers I (slowly) bent it into shape...and I think it looks very nice, especially being as it didn't cost me anything

oh and, also, the clip that hold the iPad in place are movable along the length of the stand, so it can actually accommodate other things, and they also can act as cord management, or hold stuff...so it's pretty versatile

So because you spend $500 or more you have to drop hundreds on a stand? um ok steve jobs not everyone has an extra few hundred left after getting one.

yeah it seemed out of place! they've been on a post-deleting rampage of late it seems

I'm wondering if a wooden coat hanger can be modded with a dremel tool and wood glue...I shall see!

I bet one could make a small, foldable stand using some small hinges and wood...that would be neat! or better yet, copper tubes...steam punk!
