Square Enix's popular iPhone and iPod touch game, Crystal Defenders, now has its own iPad version, which has been released to the Apple iTunes App Store today. Featuring jobs and locations from the popular Final Fantasy Tactics series, such as Black Mage, the defensive simulation game requires players to strategically deploy units in order to fend off the enemy hordes and prevent them from stealing their party's crystals.

On top of smoother controls and an interface that enables players to instantly grasp the battle situation at a glance, the iPad release boasts completely revamped graphics, and features 12 stages, and 360 waves of action across three game modes.

Best of all, for those of us Final Fantasy fans who love Moogles and were upset at the lack of Moogles in Final Fantasy XIII, Crystal Defenders' main hero is a brave Moogle charged with guarding the crystals. Awesome.

Crystal Defenders for iPad is available now in the App store for £4.99.
