Connecting External hard drive using Camera Connection Kit

Ok! I have searched throughout the forum and have googled as well but havent as yet found a solution which works for me. Have tried Maxwell Shay's (MS) method but that didnt work either.
I want to know whether (assuming its a jailbroken device and i have a camera connection kit)it is possible for me to connect my self powered external drive to my Ipad with MS method. And why cant i spot my drive in ifile even without the MS method. To what i know its because of the USB ports incapacity to support the power requirement of the drive that it doesnt work.
People please post if you know how to mount an external HD on the ipad.
