charging the ipad

I have a new Ipad and I have noticed something rather odd. When I power off the Ipad completely with the charging cable connected to the power supply for charging the Ipad stays switched off. However if I power it off and then I connect the power cable for charging the Apple logo appears and the Ipad is switched back on. Is this a fault?

No,that's perfectly normal behavior.The same thing happens with iPhones and iPods as well.
