Can I access the iTunes Store from the iPad?

After I've set up a functioning iTunes account, can I buy content for direct download onto the iPad?

yes - if it is a US account.

After Mai 28th most European stores will work as well (depending on launch dates).

Actually, it is a problem if your country doesn't yet have iPads or iPad apps in its iTunes Store.
