Calendar and Contacts Questions

Set my new iPad to check the mail on my home email account with no problem. however, I would like to have my contacts and calendar on the iPad sync with my Outlook calendar and contacts by can't seem to find a way. When I bought my iPod last year I was able to sync everything with outlook on my desktop with no problems but can't do so on the iPad. Any help would be most appreciated.

What I did was set up a Google Mail account. I then sync the calendar and contacts from Outlook to GMail and then this syncs with my iPad. Seems long winded, but it actually works very well and quickly. Has the added attraction that you have a backup of your contacts on GMail. I never ever login to the GMail account.
