Podcasts were originally launched in 2005 and they proved to be quite popular. The service allowed users to create their own radio like shows and post them for download on the iTunes store. With this special occasion Apple revealed that the subscriptions are spread over 250,000 unique podcasts that were created in 100 different languages. Since the service has been launched for the public, 8 million standalone episodes have been uploaded to the iTunes Store.
