In March of this year, Apple reported that they were planning to expand their Austin, TX campus sometime later this year and create approximately 3,600 jobs as they invest over $300 Million in the project. The company will be receiving $37 Million dollars worth of state and local government incentives over the next 10 years for the boost to the Austin economy that it will provide. A new report indicates that they are moving forward with these plans and have just purchased three tracks of land from the McShane Development Company, and finalized this sale on June 21st. This land is adjacent to their current campus at 12545 Riata Vista Circle. This campus houses customer support, sales and accounting teams, which will basically double in size after this project is completed.
They also pledged to pay an average $35,000 salary to the bottom 10% of its employees, and a minimum of $11 dollars an hour to any contract workers. It was not reported how much Apple paid for the land, and neither company returned phone calls to the Austin BizJournal for comment.
